If you’ve ever seen StacyPlays on Youtube, then you have an idea about what to expect from the Mystic Mesa modpack. This pack beefs up mesa biomes significantly, making them larger and more expansive in general and more specifically, filling them with strange monsters and critters you’ve never seen before, like wolves, birds, unicorns and even dragons. Sure, it might make more sense to see a dragon in extreme hills or another mountainous location, but Mystic Mesa brings the beasts to acacia forests everywhere. It should go without saying, but most of these custom mobs are also hostile and violent.
There are dozens of mods included in the Mystic Mesa mod pack, including Aqua Creepers, which allows for creepers that swim through the water and do massive explosion damage, even when the player is submerged. The Lantern Mod won’t make Minecraft like the Amnesia games, but it will give you a similar perspective of the world around your character, plus the lamp’s a nice light source that you can carry around with you to light up dark spaces. Torches, glowstone and other light sources do still produce light, but they don’t illuminate your surroundings when you’re just holding them.
There are improved ladder mods, mods that make zombies literally eat players and villagers, mods that add fossils and archaeology to the game and much more. However, there doesn’t seem to be any specific quest chain or sense of direction in Mystic Mesa. Instead, you’re free to do whatever you want and get your kicks where you can.
